Professor Gabriel Rockhill published an article back in June 2021 reviewing the January 6th Capitol riot in Washington D.C. in the context of the "Business Plot" of 1934. The article mentions Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler's role in exposing this conspiracy to create a Fascist Dictatorship in the USA.
Chris Hedges interviews (see sources) Rockhill to explore the topic as it crosses with areas of his own research, including his book "American Fascists and the Christian Right". Rockhill quotes Franco to dispel the myth that Fascism is a rare or random occurrence, but that it always emerges with local nationalist sentiment and is related to political economics. A précis on the history of and conditions for the emergence of Fascism is offered.
I maintain that Major General Smedley Butler should be far more widely recognised as a USA patriotic hero. He was essentially warning about the Military Industrial Complex 30 years before Eisenhower, who was actually involved in supressing veterans' demand for their wages with "bayonets, tear gas, and tanks".
History rhymes, Butler rides again and War is a Racket!
