Fallout From the 12 Day War

Introduction

With over 50 references Kit Klarenberg has documented the visible mechanics and provided a cogent summary of the US Empire's unprovoked, but not quite full scale, failed attempt to change the government in Iran via war. Democracy be damned! The no rules based US international order was put on display.

To Klarenberg's excellent summary can be added the subversion of the U.N's International Atomic Energy Agency. Its director, Grossi, and board of directors were manipulated via the Empire's agents, including Peter Thiel's company, Palantir, to create the war narrative (Weapons of Mass Destruction all over again) and supply targeting data (the names of Iranian scientists to be assassinated). The manipulation of the IAEA was reported by Alastair Crooke.

Crooke’s summary positioned the illegal US-Israeli war within the current geopolitical conflicts which the declining US Empire is generating with nations which refuse to submit to its hegemony, the leaders of the multi-nodal world. Crooke noted that the war has exacerbated the growing rift within the US electorate which supported President Trump.

Results

An evaluation of which nation suffered more, after the cessation of hostilities, has military and socio-political dimensions. The question of success is based upon whether objectives were achieved.

Military

Militarily, Israel lost. The agreed exchange between the US and Iran of casualty free, "once and done" attacks were to produce satisfactory, Western media narratives — a military "off ramp". US President Trump's "oblivion" bombast was a necessary, irrelevant lie.

Iran has 5 dispersed locations for its peaceful nuclear technologies program. 3 of these received some surface damage. The US military facility at Al Udeid, Qatar, also received some surface damage.

There is one nation in the region, armed with nuclear weapons, which is a threat to peace and stability. It is Israel. Nobody in the region is or was confused by the war narrative. Global recognition that Israel is the problem has grown.

The agreed military exchange allowed Trump to save Israel from further destruction and its internationally wanted, genocidal Prime Minister from immediate political defeat. Iran followed its Shi ethics of terminating hostilities at the earliest opportunity, after having demonstrated the porosity of Israel's US supplied air defenses.

Those defenses were both ineffective against modern, hypersonic missiles and nearly exhausted of their expensive munitions. US production could not resupply the missiles at the rate Iran was forcing Israel to consume them. This forced Israel's hand. Israel did not manage to suck the US into the war. It pleaded with the US to save it.

Politics

Socio-politically, Israel instituted a media blackout to hide the damage it was suffering. It implemented a law making it illegal to leave the colony. It continued and continues its genocide in Gaza and its annexation of and wars with Lebanon and Syria. Israel's actions have surrounded it with legitimately aggrieved enemies.

In Iran, significant portions of its youth who had not experienced the US and European supplied and approved 8 year long, half a million casualty war from Iraq (1980 - 1988) have embraced their parents' politics. Israel is an evil colony supported by the US. Neither will ever stop attempting to undermine Iran's independence. Do not forget this.

Iran achieved a rebirth of national unity.

Hundreds of thousands of citizens lined the streets of Tehran for the state funerals of military officers and scientists, and their family members, assassinated by Israel with US weaponry. Professor Marandi commented that he has never before experienced the groundswell of support from Iran's youth which has emerged since the US-Israel "12 Day" war. This was the diametric opposite of one of the Empire and Israel's objectives.

Objectives

Those US Imperial and Israeli objectives were to topple the government of Iran and for Netanyahu to be saved from political defeat and criminal incarceration from his trial on corruption.

The first objective failed. The second objective was achieved, for now.

Iran's objectives were to maintain both national cohesion and escalation dominance. Iran exceeded its first and achieved its second objective.

Imperial Objectives

For the Empire, the "12 Day War" was a roll of the dice to achieve a raft of potential imperial advantages. A compliant regime in Tehran, or political chaos, would have disrupted the economic integration of the Asian continent. With a compliant regime, resource flows could have been redirected to the Empire's preferences. Instead, a newly unified Iran will maintain its independence and participate in beneficial economic, political and military cooperation with its Asian neighbours.

The US Empire undermined itself and the IAEA, on top of the previous undermining of the OPCW during the decade long Syrian Dirty War. All of this is above and beyond its unilateral economic sanctions regimes and theft of central bank assets (Venzeula, Afghanistan, Russia).

Iran demonstrated to the world its capabilities and principles. It is a formidable nation state, grounded in its history, culture and ethics.
