How can we stop this?

I expect that this question is close to universal, outside of Israel. Even their staunch supporters, a section of the US Establishment want this to end. The rest of them and all of us desperately want this to end.

If you wish to be reminded of the horror which Israel's political leadership has ordered its national defense forces to resume executing, Chris Hedges has steeled himself to report, with references, the numbers and employ such control to find words to help us grasp this unspeakable act.

How do we stop this?

We know that reverting to vengeance would just lower ourselves to the butchers who are killing everyone. Life would be safer in Gaza if a random number generator selected the bombing target locations.

The law is the mechanism which is meant to serve us. But no one has utilized the Genocide convention which was written, by the US even, and almost universally signed, by Israel even. This lack of use of international treaty and the International Court of Justice shames all leaders who signed that convention, and to some degree all of the citizens of their nations.

The lack of response is a universal guilt, almost as much as the active support for the genocide by the US.

The UN system is fundamentally broken if it cannot address this. Everyone is playing politics, scared, when what is needed is the bravery of love. What is needed is the delivery to Gaza of civilization and humanity.

The legal scholars can discuss later whether Israel has forgone its borders. It is not only not trying to stop a genocide, which its signature on the Convention demands in Article I, it is pursuing it. All signatory nations are meant try to actively stop a genocide.

Humanity

We need doctors, engineers, nurses, bakers, priests, cooks, gardeners, statisticians, artists, reporters, sailors, imams, poets, muscians, street cleaners, farmers, monks, veterinarians, dancers … and more than anything else supplies and logistics. Boats and cargo vessels laden with food, fresh water, fuel, and medicine need to converge on the Gaza shoreline. Aboard those and other passenger ships, humanity needs to descend on Gaza and walk ashore carrying these supplies.

No weapons. Only supplies and infrastructure.

All the governments of the world need to do is to say that when evidence is received of the murder or detention of one of their citizens by Israel they will choose as many of the following non-violent responses as the outrage of their citizens demand, but at least one item, from some list which could include:

• activate the Genocide convention

• withdraw diplomats

• refuse for 10 years, as a government, to purchase anything from any company, or parent company ..., which is registered in Israel

• immediately add the above restriction for all government issued contract bids

• issue an arrest warrant for every member of Israel's War Cabinet and the leadership of the IDF for complicity in murdering children, thousands of them. There is no statue of limitations for assassinating children. (And if there is, fix it.)

Add whatever else feels like a good idea to you, reader. Compose in your mind. Feel free to use the comments section as a note pad.

Then, with this tiny modicum of support, the people will go.

Who cares about the UN? All it takes is this tiny support of your government. And, all it will take is a few governments to support this and then the rest will feel the pressure.

Pressure them.

Demand that they respond to Israel assassinating or detaining any citizen who goes to help prevent this genocide. They can choose from whichever of the suggestions seem reasonable to them. If they wont even withdraw their diplomats, then I suggest unending scorn and ridicule LOCALLY against your government’s political leaders. To get the ball rolling, start by pressuring for support from opposition members of parliament.

No support?

What? You wont even support breaking diplomatic relations when a nation assassinates one of your unarmed citizens trying to stop a genocide? Welcome to eternal scorn. Get out of our parliament, you wretch.

Skirt the UN. This needs people. The governments will have to follow, and then the UN behind them.

Sail to Gaza. With water, flour, fuel and love.

Lets break bread with our brothers and sisters. They need us.
