During Ray McGovern's interview with Regis Tremblay on Global Conversations, Ray recounts the February 7th, 2022, press conference at the White House with Biden and German Chancellor Scholz. The bilingual journalist from Reuters first asks Biden about his statement that if Russia invades Ukraine the Nord Stream II pipeline will be destroyed. How can you do that? Biden merely responds that the USA can. The journalist them turns to Scholz and asks him, in perfect German, what he thinks about this? Scholz responds (invoke the McGovern German accent) "We do things together."
There is a really big problem hidden here. It hinges on whether Scholz knew that the USA would destroy the pipelines. It does not matter what the answer is, the political ramifications are disastrous.
Before we proceed to the trivial analysis, it is important to acknowledge just how important the Nord Stream I pipeline was, and how Nord Stream II would continue to secure German industry and its economy. Russia is not a "gas station masquerading as a country" but Russia does have serious amounts of energy resources and the national industrial capacity to extract and deliver them.
Russia's business direction was to establish long term contracts, which enable the investment required to construct and maintain the delivery infrastructure against the profits to be achieved by the sale of the energy. The idiots in Brussels tasked with securing the EU's energy supply decided that spot market purchases were a better plan, and in so doing screwed the reliability of supply. Germany was making a pretty penny from Nord Stream I, cheaply supplying national demands, both civilian and industrial. So well were they doing that they were selling excess energy at a profit to other European countries.
Nord Stream II was ready to go, with German formal approval the only thing preventing the delivery of gas. The 50 billion USD invested in the infrastructure was held by Russia in the name of Gazprom (51%) and a collection of EU energy companies holding the other 49%. Everything was set up for more joy for Germany. Cheap energy for its industry from Russia was a subsidy for its manufactured products.
The USA said no. With assistance from Norway, who were ready to fill an energy gap with their own supply, explosives were placed on the four Nord Stream I & II pipelines and 3 of these were successfully exploded, detonating the German industrial economy, and undermining energy security for Europe.
Betwixt and Between
During the many interviews with Hersh which I have watched, he repeatedly states that the industry which lays pipelines of the type used for Nord Stream I & II know what happened. They understand the technical details of the pipelines, and what would be required to destroy them. The pipes are contained within about one inch of steel, with another layer, about a foot thick, of reinforced concrete. The pipes are laid such that seafloor surface cover is provided.
Given the engineering behind the pipelines and that three of the four are ruptured in a small time this is not some weird seafloor tectonic anomaly. It is human sabotage.
To return to the political question, Scholz is in a checkmate.
If, as he declared, Germany and the USA (ie. NATO) do everything “together” then he knew that the USA was going to destroy the energy supply which enabled German industry. All of the increase in energy costs, and concomitant de-industrialization and thus unemployment which will ensue, are his fault. He agreed to it.
Or, if Scholz did not know of this dastardly plot, what the hell is the point of Germany's participation in NATO? This is a direct attack by an ally (two, if one counts Norway) on the German people, economy and its industry. More than that, it is a destabilization of energy security for the whole of Europe.
German citizens are beginning to ask these questions, and the result is damning. What is even more dangerous is if wider European society begin to understand the implications for European energy security. Recall that energy underpins the vast majority of any national economy. Heating, transport, hospitals, schools, fire departments, police, agriculture, industry ... it all depends on energy.
It is trite to describe Hersh's article as "explosive". The political implications of the article are monumental. The existence of the NATO alliance is at stake.
Understanding this horrid predicament informs us. The USA has completely rejected Hersh's article, which further buries whatever sliver of credibility they held. The only person to expose more complicity and lies by USA administrations beyond that already achieved by Hersh is Assange.
The initial investigation by Sweden into the pipeline destruction was suppressed due to "national security" considerations. The triumvirate of investigating national groups, the Swedes, the Danes and the Germans issued a statement on the morning of Prof. Sachs' and McGovern's statements to the UN Security Council. That statement just said "wait for our investigations".
They cannot speak. The USA denies. NATO member states say "we can't tell you". This is political kryptonite. Time, time, please let this fall off the radar!
No.
The consequences for Germany are too extreme. Greater Europe may also see the implications. The financial fracture is too deep.
A reckoning is coming.
Update (with its own sources list)
Quite unsurprisingly, a combination of USA and Germany publishers told their audiences a new narrative on the destruction of the Nord Stream pipelines. This happened a few days after a closed meeting between German Chancellor Scholz and USA President Biden. Nasty questions were prohibited by the lack of a press conference. The last time they'd convened, a bilingual Reuters journalist exposed the pipeline problem.
The astonishing part of this story is that political planners in the USA and Germany agreed that this behind-closed-doors meeting with no press conference, to be followed by a sequence of evidence free articles to propose a "different narrative" to the Nord Stream sabotage, was a good idea. These idiots completely failed to see that issuing a new narrative would naturally direct attention to the original, even if just for comparison.
I mean, come on. How dumb are you? In the 17th century a pretty famous guy published what is know purely as "Principia" in which is stated and is universally tested as true that any action creates an equal and opposite reaction. The military know this. These political operatives do not.
An inside source provides core details of the sabotage by the USA and Norway of the pipelines to the most respected investigative USA journalist. You think that running some evidence free story in a few journals will divert attention or "destroy the narrative"? Idiots, idiots.
These are the people who think they are smart and can control dialogue, and by this direct international affairs. They have drunk too much of their own propaganda.
The unwritten part of this story must have been a discussion on whether they could succeed in a character attack on Hersh. Business Insider started an attempt. Reuters played a little part. No one else took it up. You want journalists to attack Hersh? Gimme a break.
Go burn your own sources.

Its a war of economics between US, China & Russia.
The US needed to destroy the pipeline to get Europe off the dependency on Russian energy as the oligarchs (WEF Davos) in the US (Washington DC & UK (London Corp) Europe(Switzerland) were desperate as their market was drying up.
The rest including Ukraine was planned a long time back.
