Resurrecting Judea
Internal negotiations on the peak of instability

Some months ago Dmitri Lascaris posed the question of what to do about the insane Zionists to Hizbollah's international spokesperson. The response was: Nothing, they are destroying themselves.
Ideology
In Alastair Crooke's most recent essay he plumbs the ideological depths of the crisis in Zionism which is risking the existence of Israel. The German Jew Leo Strauss left the country during the rise of Nazism to settle in the US in 1938. He taught philosophy at the University of Chicago and gave private tuition to selected students. His protégés included a collection of dual US/Israeli influential Zionists like Richard Perle, David Wurmser and Elliott Abrams. Perle rose to significant influence in the Project for a New American Century and the George W. Bush & Cheney administration which initiated the Global War on/of Terrorism as a response to the 9/11 crimes.
Within the current arrangement of power in Israel, one branch of Zionism which connects back to Strauss includes the current Prime Minister Netanyahu, for which the three above named Zionists wrote a study in 1996. Another key source of inspiration for this group was "Ze’ev Jabotinsky, the founder of Revisionist Zionism, to whom Netanyahu’s father served as private secretary".
The revisionist Zionists believe that the moral code of the first five books of the Bible, referred to as the Torah in Judaism, should be applied to society rather than seen as an instruction for personal moral behaviour. This could be viewed as akin to Sharia Law as a judicial implementation of an interpretation of Islamic moral guidance. They also believe in the fulfillment of a land of Judea from the Nile to the Euphrates (or "Greater Israel" in modern parlance). The only way they view that land being a secure Judea is to exterminate all Arabs in it, hence the genocide. A less extreme version of Zionism, or at least a more pragmatic one, is the cultural Zionism of the World Jewish Congress.
10 months into the US supported genocide, the Israel state Army (IOF) and intelligence services understand that the task they have been set by their revisionist Zionist, civilian, leadership is impossible, and that continuing on the current path places the state itself at serious risk.
That risk is double. The primary one is internal. Israel risks becoming a religious autocracy. Currently, the police, border guards and Zionist settler militias are under the control of the revisionist Zionists. The armed forces (IOF) are under the control of the cultural Zionists. Should the army fall under the sway of the revisionists, then the religious autocracy will result. This risk was clearly expressed by former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak:
“Under cover of the war, a governmental and constitutional putsch is now taking place in Israel without a shot being fired. If this putsch isn’t stopped, it will turn Israel into a de facto dictatorship within weeks. Netanyahu and his government are assassinating democracy … The only way to prevent a dictatorship at such a late stage is by shutting down the country through large-scale, nonviolent civil disobedience, 24/7, until this government falls … Israel has never faced such a serious and immediate internal threat to its existence and future as a free society”.
Negotiations
The fact that the most recent round of "negotiations", supposedly to end the genocide, only included the parties of the US, Egypt and Israel informs us that the real discussions are between the US and Israel. That the US Secretary of State Blinken injected into the proposal new elements from Netanyahu which would never be accepted by Hamas tells us that there was never any intention of reaching agreement. What is being done, is the creation of time, a delay. It is also an opportunity for US Secretary of State Blinken to proclaim meaningless “good news” for the Democratic National Convention in which their next annointed leader is to have her status formally confirmed.
This delay is for the corners of real power, in the US and Israel, to make their interests known while children continue to be murdered by the IOF in Gaza, the West Bank and elsewhere. The real struggle is within the fractured forces of Zionism and to what degree US corners of power are prepared to suffer the economic and geopolitical consequences of having their military dragged into the regional war which the revisionist Zionist branch is desperate to create.
Crooke has previously used the term eschatological to describe one aspect of this struggle. Branches of Judaism and Christianity are entranced by a mythology of the return of a messiah or a golden age to be achieved by a final battle. These concepts of an end of times battle and final judgment are within the study of eschatology. They bridge Zionist, Judaic Israel and messianic, modern, Christian, US religious communities. Their desire for a sublime, self destruction places us all at risk, for both nations are armed with nuclear weapons. One has already used nuclear weapons in war. The other is into its 10th month of a genocide with the former supplying the weapons. The rest of the world is alarmed, not only by the genocide and nuclear weaponry, but the ill conceived, supremacist, religious foundation of the conflict and its suicidal nature.
Complications
These two risky rifts, within Zionism in Israel, and between differing US factions in to what degree they can support Israel's self destruction, are playing out against a global power realignment. It is not only the murder of innocent civilians in occupied Palestine which pressures time.
A rejection of neo-liberal economics, coupled with its dismantling of social welfare, is occurring in Europe as it suffers the economic fallout of the war in Ukraine and the sanctions the EU "imposed" on Russia. The rejection of the G7 block of former colonialists by the rest of the world was brought into stark focus with the failure of those economic sanctions. Rumblings from eastern Europe, to the left wing alliance in France, are threatening the Atlanticist hold on power.
The liberal democratic ideals of Europe, born in the ascendancy of European empires in the late 18th and 19th centuries, was reborn in Europe after the devastation of the second World War. These have been severely weakened over the last four decades with neo-liberal economics and the rise of financialization. Major wealth concentrations in corporations like Blackrock have aligned with other transnational corporations like Bayer-Monsanto in transforming agriculture and thus, a European way of life. Protests by farmers have repeatedly rocked Europe as costs have risen due to supporting the war with Russia in Ukraine. In Vijay Prashad’s most recent essay he proposes for discussion some theses to describe this new politics, a neo-liberal economic embrace of a conservative nationalism.
Increasingly difficult household economics have lead to an increase in political discussion. The Internet's provision of diverse views have magnified rifts in societies. These have also be intensified by immigration, which have been the result of wars from Libya to Syria and Ukraine. Refugees have shifted the composition of communities. Centrist political mechanics focusing on the protection of cultural minorities, during increasingly difficult financial circumstances, have alienated these parties as voters see no escape from the policies which impoverish them. Repression of political expression by concentrated surveillance capitalism ("social media") companies has further inflamed political tension.
The US "defence establishment" has declared its state aim to create a war with China as a mechanism to preserve US hegemony. How they plan to do this with a disunited Europe in partial revolt remains unclear. It will certainly be impossible if a regional war breaks out in southwest Asia. And still, the US sides with Israel enabling the suicidal escalation of the revisionist Zionists.
These are the stakes during this period of alarming instability, while a demonic Zionist inhumanity is on display around the ancient, religious capital of Jerusalem.
