Resurrecting the "Hague Invasion Act": Milling the UN Security Council
Milling the UN Security Council

USA Ambassador Richard Mills has made a remarkable speech to the United Nations. The USA UN mission is to be praised for publishing it. The Ambassador should be horrified.
The commentary relates to the destruction of the NordSteam I and II pipelines and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
Mills' fourth paragraph is:
Efforts to investigate are under way, and the United States strongly supports European efforts to conduct this important investigation. It can take time, but the search for the truth will not be rushed. It’s important that we first established the facts.
A UN Ambassador is the most senior national geopolitical diplomat. This statement by Mills should be nailed to the head of the USA President. Do NOT forget what is being said. There shall be no "rushing the truth". Investigations are under way.
Ambassador Mills relates:
Sabotage of critical infrastructure should be of concern to us all. In the context of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, we have seen numerous Russian attacks damaging civilian infrastructure. We witnessed Russia recklessly seize control of Europe’s largest nuclear power plant, risking a nuclear disaster in Europe. We saw countless attacks destroying civilian electricity infrastructure.
The introductory sentences are a tepid framing. Mills gets the point, and error, with "reckless". Yes, Russia did "seize control" of the ZNPP (Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant). Since then, what nuclear emergency has resulted? The only "emergency" is your claim that Russia is using its own artillery to attack the plant. This irrational accusation is the singular "emergency".
As for the "countless attacks destroying civilian electricity infrastructure", no. They are countable. The damage was in response to a Ukraine initiated counter-attack in the warzone/oblast of Kharkiv. We, the informed, understand what happened. The Russian response, time limited damage to the local electrical infrastructure, was to limit mobility of Ukrainian forces via their electrical railways. War is horrid, and this was a valid response.
Mills informs that:
We’ve also heard in this very chamber UN experts recount numerous verified instances of harm to civilians and civilian infrastructure resulting from Russia’s war against Ukraine. These reports include credible reporting of the bombing of educational institutions, medical clinics, hospitals, killing of aid workers, medical staff and patients. Evidence of the scale of atrocities continues to mount as Russia ignores international calls for an immediate stopped in this war.
To repeat, war is horrid. Horrible things happen on all sides.
In this statement, Ambassador Mills is projecting on Russia that which Ukraine has delivered upon the peoples of the Donbas for eight long years. This is not hyperbole. This is video documented fact. All of these accusations are demonstrably proven against the citizens of Donbas by Ukraine. ALL OF THEM. The key term here is "projection".

The USA Ambassador “doubles down” with:
As we did with this afternoon’s vote, we must continue to speak out against Russia’s atrocities, this war, and the wanton disregard for international law that we are seeing on the ground. We must not allow Russia to continue to use this platform, this Council, to spread lies and disinformation which they have done since the very beginning of this war in Ukraine
This paragraph summarizes Mills' delivery to the UN Security Council. He is "speaking out" against Russia's "atrocities", "this war" and "the wanton disregard for international law" "We must not allow ..."
Mr. Mills is a diplomat. His charter is to "speak". Our charter is to analyze his words. Mr. Mills is "spreading lies and disinformation". Recently, the USA has not stood for "international law". This is clearly evident in the nation's constant lack of support for the International Criminal Court. The USA legislature approved the "Hague Invasion Act" (which was repealed earlier this year). The USA has still not ratified the court. The USA understanding of a "rules based (international) order" is national. The USA is a hegemon; a single nation which wishes to control international affairs. It "must not allow" a plurality. The USA applies an atrocity of governance.
Ambassador Mills is to be thanked for speaking these words, and the US(A) Mission to the UN for publishing them. They are informative.

Nikki Haley was and is treacherous. Two faced IMO. She betrayed Trump. An opportunist she is.
