In "It’s the end of the world as we know it" Scott Ritter reviews the recent statements by outgoing NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, other NATO officials and those of Russian Federation President Putin to convey the level of nuclear seriousness which has recently been reached. He then returns to the origin of the concepts of Nuclear Deterrence and Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD), continuing onward explaining their basis for the disarmament processes of the 1980s.
His brief history review continues into the post-Cold War "hegemonic" era placing the current state of the US nuclear doctrine in the context of the withdrawals from the disarmament and "trust but verify" monitoring treaties.
His essay contains details of the locations of US controlled nuclear weapons placed in European NATO member states. It also describes the delivery vehicle and capacity for one of Russia's 'tactical' nuclear weapons:
The Iskander-M is the nuclear-capable version of the Iskander family of missiles and can carry a single nuclear warhead with a variable yield of between 5 and 50 kilotons. (By way of comparison, the American atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima had a yield of 15 kilotons.) The single-stage solid rocket missile flies at high hypersonic speeds, and possesses a maneuvering warhead, making it virtually impossible to shoot down. With a range of 500 kilometers, the Iskander-M, when fired from locations in Crimea, would be able to reach French bases located in Romania, which ostensibly would be used to surge forces into Ukraine.
Berlin is less than 500 Km from Kalingrad.
Ritter concludes his essay with an invitation to not go gently into that good night, but to join him and others in protest against the suicidal stupidity which is being displayed by the US as a component of its and NATO's war against Russia, and now North Korea.
There will be an event dedicated to stopping this mad rush toward [the unspeakable] on September 28, in Kingston, New York. Gerald Celente is putting this together, along with a coalition of like-minded citizen patriots.
