Independent journalist Richard Medhurst, mentioned in yesterday's article on Craig Murray, has done a mountain of work for an investigative piece on the curious case of David Mendoza. Again, this relates to the Julian Assange extradition case.

It seems that Mr Medhurst's close following of the Assange extradition hearings alerted him to the Mendoza case as it was mentioned in court by Assange's defense team during the hearings. Medhurst has followed up on this by digging into the Mendoza case (actually, cases) and used FOIA applications to obtain documents. Thereafter Richard has interviewed key persons involved in the whole saga, including Mendoza and some of his legal representatives.
Mr Mendoza highlights his treatment both the Spanish government and the USA government as a litmus test for how Assange will be processed by the USA's legal system and potentially those of the UK and Australia.
The story is quite involved and riveting. Medhurst has excelled in fleshing out the whole alarming tale. It is available both in written and video form. Enjoy whichever format is preferable, or both. Both can be found in sources below.
I have a distinct feeling that Stefania Maurizi has had a mentoring hand in this, or at least served as an inspiration. The date of publication is timely too, as we expect the verdict from the UK's High Court on the Assange extradition in the coming days.
The field of emerging independent reporters funded by reader/viewer subscriptions is producing some rising stars.
