The Writing’s On the Wall for Clear Writing
Let's take a squiz at the level of cognitive dissonance which journalists are being forced to suffer during the ongoing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza by Israel’s armed forces at the direction of their Zionist political leadership.
The title above in the graphic, and all quotes below are from the same ABC News article, in order. The topic is Israel killing people in Lebanon. The journalist is Allyson Horn.
There are fears an air strike that killed the deputy head of Hamas in Beirut could draw the Lebanese-based Hezbollah militant group into a more serious escalation of its conflict with Israel.
Really, Allyson. Who is afraid?
Lets get this straight. Hamas, like many other organisations in the region, have a political and military arm. Another example is Hezbollah. Hamas is the democratically elected government of Gaza. Hezbollah is an elected part of the Lebanese parliament.
You're telling me that some unidentified people are concerned that the armed conflict could get out of control because Israel assassinated a member of Gaza's government in exile, in the neighbouring state's capital, Beirut? I am shocked.
Hamas confirmed its deputy leader Saleh al-Arouri died in the blast in the Lebanese capital, and said he had been targeted in an Israeli drone strike.
Israel did not comment directly, but an Israel Defense Forces spokesman said the country's military was "on high readiness for any scenario".
What does "Israel did not comment directly" mean? And why are you wasting space providing the irrelevant talking point of the Israeli military PR stooge?
Lebanon's Prime Minister Najib Mikati urged Hezbollah not to retaliate.
Good luck to him. He understands where this goes if Hezbollah retaliates immediately. So does Hezbollah. They, unlike the Zionists, are not child murdering, vengeful, genocidal maniacs.
Al-Arouri was the deputy chief of Hamas's political bureau and heavily involved in the group's military affairs.
Oh, now you get to the point. Yes, Israel is assassinating politicians it doesn't like. Biden is 'headily involved' in the US' "military affairs" too. Grow up.
And what does "deputy chief of Hamas’ political bureau” mean? You just mean 'deputy leader' don't you? We’re all getting a bit sick of this double-speak, Allyson.
Israeli government ministers and politicians posted on social media, attributing the assassination to Israel and congratulating security forces.
Oh, "no comment" means neither the Israeli Prime Minister nor their Foreign Minister didn't say nothin', eh? Just members of the cabinet.
So, let's get this straight, Allyson. The senior leadership of the Zionist political bureau who are heavily involved in directing the national military congratulated their armed wing for using a drone to assassinate an exiled political leader of the elected government of Gaza while he was in a foreign country, thus violating that neighbouring country's territorial integrity and potentially launching a illegal war which people fear could initiate a wider regional conflict. And, once that starts who knows where it could go?
Is that it, Allyson?
Lebanese state media reported several other people were killed in the blast at a Hamas office in southern Beirut, in an area which is a Hezbollah stronghold.
Oi, Allyson, WFT is 'stronghold'? You mean the citizens there vote for Hezbollah? Or, they appreciate Hezbollah's social services wing? And those 'several other people' are called victims of Zionist mass murder, and those congratulating Zionist ministers may well be complicit in the murders.
Most senior Hamas leader to be killed
Al-Arouri is the most senior leader of Hamas to have been killed since the October 7 attack on southern Israel.
He was the deputy of Hamas's supreme political leader, Ismail Haniyeh, and headed the group's presence in the West Bank. He was also a key liaison with Hezbollah.
So, the victim of the Israeli extra-territorial military assassination was such a significant regional political figure that he was the liaison between Hamas and Hezbollah. No wonder the unnamed people are concerned about escalation. Israel's military are following the orders of their political leadership and assassinating other regional political leaders. This type of stupid caused a world war just over a century ago.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to press ahead with the assault in Gaza until Hamas is crushed and the more than 100 hostages still held by the militant group in Gaza are freed, which he has said could take several more months.
Okay, Allyson, enough. It is not an 'assault on Gaza' it is a text-book case of genocidal ethnic cleansing. It is fundamentally illegal. Abhorrent. Evil.

Sorry to burden you with perhaps a little too much of that. I do have a point and will get to it shortly.
Lets jump to Napolitano's most recent interview with McGovern on Judging Freedom.
Quite a bit of the interview is devoted to an issue very close to McGovern's heart, the political corruption of the CIA's intelligence service, as opposed to its always politically corrupt operations wing.
Napolitano does direct Ray to current affairs in which the ex-intelligence officer pulls a couple of pieces of "straw from the wind" and demonstrates that he's not lost his ability to gather and identify useful information. Those pieces of straw were:
one of the two US aircraft carriers in the 'eastern Med' has been sent home
the IDF have withdrawn one of their brigades from Gaza
The first point is extremely significant. This is as clear a sign as the US can send to Israel that it is not going to fight a losing cause on the Zionist's behalf. This has occurred just before US Secretary of Statelessness Blinkenlights is about to visit his cultural leadership in Tel Aviv. Any bets on whether Tony gives a press conference which allows unscripted questions? Nah. Didn’t think so.
During the Judging Freedom interview while examining the corruption of the CIA, Napolitano plays a clip in which, before the 9/11 attacks, both Condelezza Rice and Colin Powel declare that then Iraqi leader Hussein was not a threat. This assists in developing McGovern's point about the fabrication of intelligence to justify the illegal 2003 invasion of Iraq which is the pinnacle of the politicization of intelligence.
The clip is from a John Pilger documentary. It provides McGovern with the opportunity to praise the recently deceased, courageous Australian journalist and documentarian.
Well, played Napolitano and McGovern.
The narration by Pilger in the piece follows the instruction given to English writers by no less than George Orwell. The core of that advice is to write clearly; do not waste the time of your readership. Pilger understands the instruction. He clearly summarizes the impact of what Rice and Powel said.
Here we return to Allyson and the trouble she is having with authoring the news article based on the information she is receiving from "wires". The article is entirely unclear.
Clear language may re-alert the reader to the horror which is occurring. The use of this indirect and convoluted language could be seen as a form of compassion to minimize an emotional harm imposed on her readership being forced to return, post Christmas break, to the outright evil of the current Israeli political leadership.
Should Allyson be mincing her words for political favour, readership compassion or to preserve her employment or is it preferable that she clearly describes what is happening, the Israeli political assassination? The role of reporter or journalist is an extremely important one. Should not an author call what they see by the simplest and clearest language?
I apologize for my lack of skill with words. I try at least to provide useful analysis through the mumble of my prose.
There are great writers to be found in the independent media who provide excellent analysis in elegant prose. This newsletter attempts to bring some to your attention rather than the tortured phraseology used by Allyson above. Indeed, this is the purpose of the “Interesting Aricles” series, an issue of which is forthcoming.
