The science and operational team behind the Voyager probes danced a lovely dance with the funders to deliver a craft which would still be “speaking” long after the politicians who approved it could not.

A contra-positive exists. Politicians who have approved the spending of USD 3 million on the creation of a Navy for the land locked nation of Afghanistan are still in congress.
