Manufacturing Policy
The citizens of the Political West, on both sides of the Atlantic, have the same problem. Their political leadership are not only not doing what they want, but actively doing that which they don’t.
The mechanisms which separate policy from the polity's wishes are career path and status bribery and selection. It is the political version of Herman and Chomsky's "Manufacturing Consent": manufacturing policy.
Globalists
Lets define "globalists" as a transnational collective who want the US to continue to police the world. Group members maintain the status quo because they profit from it.
Its structures include the US Congress and bureaucracy, NATO, the European Commission, the Political West's foreign and military intelligence agencies, and its arms manufacturers. To continue to enumerate the allied organisations, just expand Ray McGovern's MICIMATT across the Political West.
The personal members include the entire US political class. They are invested in the US Military Industrial Complex (MIC), which requires the US to police the world to make money. The Zionists, irrespective of citizenship, are also members. They enjoy watching the US fight their wars for them. The current political leaders of Europe, including van der Crazy, Macron, Starmer and Merz are also invested in the "globalist" status quo.
Trump and "Forever Wars"
"Forever Wars" describes how a large percentage of the US population understand the status quo, the US as world police. They understand that their taxes are being used to fund the MIC for the profit of others and that their military is being abused to fight unnecessary wars. US President Trump understands this resentment and used it, with his "reality TV" showmanship, to win his second term.
However, to achieve victory Trump needed to make at least two Faustian bargains.
One was with the Zionists. The other was with the new tech billionaires, particularly Peter Theil, and other Silicon Valley nouveaux riche. These people have received funding from In-Q-Tel (that’s the CIA investment arm) and/or DARPA (US Dept. of Defense’s Advanced Research Projects Agency) to create their riches. They are the selected leaders of the next MIC contractors, to provide the Robots and AI to fight future US wars. They require the "critical minerals" we keep hearing about. China possess much of the industrial capacity for extracting these minerals. Russia possesses large reserves. The US possesses neither.
Trump's family is making plenty of money within the corrupt US system. One method is membership, at a cost of half a million dollars, of a club which provides a preview of upcoming executive orders. Club members profit via insider trading.
Trump craves fame. He may agree with the betrayed US class who see the "Forever Wars" for what they are. But, the betrayed do not control his polcies, the paying members of the corrupt US political system do.
Turning an Aircraft Carrier and Perhaps Losing a Few FA-18s
The Hegseth/Vance announcement to Europe that they are to carry the can for the Ukraine war was a clear description of US prerogative. The European war is draining US resources which are to be directed towards the coming war with China.
Fortunately for Trump, the Euro-globalists need the Ukraine war. They have invested their political futures on the "unity" of fighting Russia. They hope to profit from the construction of a European parallel to the US MIC. The European Commission is hard at work to trying to steal money to fund it.
The ongoing Israeli genocide of Palestinians in Gaza would not be a problem if only Ansar Allah would stop protesting the mass slaughter by blockading Israeli shipping and so damaging Israel's economy. The media element of the Western status quo have been doing a wonderful job of minimizing reporting on the horrific carnage in Palestine. Frustratingly, Ansar Allah have defeated the US and UK navies in over a year of battle at a current cost to the US of well over a billion dollars. The Israeli economy continues to suffer.
The US could not fight the Taliban in Afghanistan. I can promise you they cannot fight the Yemenis in Yemen. Given this, how do you think the US would fare in a war versus Iran, in Iran?
Negotiating One's Way Out of a Quagmire
The current negotiations between the US and Iran over Iran’s nuclear programme are just as duplicitous as the negotiations between the US and Russia over the Ukraine war. Trump tore up the JCPOA. He built up the reserve forces in Ukraine which were fighting in the Ukraine civil war which provoked the NATO-Russia war.
The problem in southwest Asia is not Iran's nuclear program which is under IAEA scrutiny, but Israel's nuclear program which is not.
Israel has not signed the Nuclear non-Proliferation Treaty. Iran has.
Israel has nuclear weapons. Iran does not.
Israel is conducting a genocide. Iran is not.
Israel's lobby controls the Political West's media. Iran does not.
Israel assassinates international political leaders. Iran does not.
The US is still providing arms and targeting intelligence, and possibly still running the tactical operations for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The recent deal signed between the US and Ukraine acknowledged that all previous support was granted to Ukraine, not loaned. It is now agreed that all future US military support is loaned. Rights to those "critical minerals" located in Ukraine are somewhere in that deal, too.
Ukraine will now further bankrupt itself purchasing US weaponry, which may encourage the non-ultra-nationalist Ukrainian population to increase their demands for an end to the war. It will not help the US population. Every cent repaid will still go straight into the pockets of US companies which participate in the US political bribery system. Ukraine will be feeding the swamp.
Reserve Armies
Simplicius' recent article identifies some of what Russia has been doing with its excesses in military recruitment and arms manufacturing. Russia is building reserve armies. Soldiers who have completed their contracts have returned to the civilian economy. These form a non-active, trained reserve. An increasing active, trained reserve is being formed from excess newly trained recruits and those still under contract and rotated out of the war.
We now know that North Korean troops fought in Kursk beside their Russian brothers in arms. The Koreans were respected both by the Russians and Ukrainians. This opens up the possibility for even more North Korean soldiers joining Russia. Rumors that they will join Russia in the war have been issued. Perhaps a more interesting possibility is for similar exchanges occurring between Russia and its CSTO partners, like Kazakhstan. The military capability enhancement could be spread among CSTO member states.
With no basis, Europe's political leadership have been accusing Russia of wishing to advance into Europe. What the US and some of its NATO partners have actually been doing in Ukraine is increasing the size and capabilities of Russia's armed forces. It has recently increased the capability of North Korea's.
NATO has facilitated the expansion of a military which has defeated it. That expansion, at least in capability, may well spread across Asia. Continuing the Ukraine war is to the disadvantage of Europe, Ukraine and the US.
Internationalized Trade and the Global Economy
The Chinese were prepared for Trump's "Reciprocal Tariffs”. They raised their tariffs behind Trump's, up the scale, and sold a few treasuries (or perhaps it was the Japanese?). Trump’s tariffs landed as a face-palm. The "reciprocal" tariffs disappeared. The remaining 10% global (minus a few nations) tariffs provide every argument needed for BRICS+ members to invite more partner nations into their sanction free, reserve bank asset safe, international trade network.
The international economy has been globalized. That genie will not go back into the bottle, irrespective of Trump's nostalgia for the McKinley era. The US 10% tariffs will cause inflation in the US. Trump has already expanded the "defense" budget. There will be no reduction in US trade deficits. The US government debt "loan bomb" will still need to be re-financed before the mid-terms and will grow.
An effective attack on the Chinese economy is to raise energy prices or to deny resources to China's manufacturing. The first would hit hard in the US and Europe, adding to already damaging inflation. The Chinese have insured against the second by investing in their Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) for 12 years.
Is the US Ship Turning or are the Ocean Currents Shifting?
The globalists can yell and scream all they want. The world is changing. Its power is shifting back to Asia. NATO is defeated and dying. Israel is heading for a civil war. The US cannot stop Ansar Allah. Russia has the strongest military on the planet. The US has convinced nations which have yet to join BRICS+ to think seriously about it.

Good summary. I would question though that the tech bros are a different camp from the zionists. They are largely one and the same: Zuckerberg, Musk, Ellison, Dell, Brin, and all the faceless venture capital puppeteers in Silicon Valley and the overlap with their media fronts. Pretty much most zionists.
Good perspectives here. I have a lot of concerns and doubts about these policies too. I've started a series that looks into the negotiation strategies that might apply here - love him or hate him, this should give you a new lens to look at what's in the news. https://open.substack.com/pub/srikaza/p/the-art-of-the-international-trade?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android&r=1w9b37
