Iranian state media reported that an “airborne projectile”, which Israeli media reported came from "outside Iran", others report must have been fired by an F-35, and the NYT reported was a bomb, assassinated Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in the Iranian capital, Tehran, just hours after recently elected President Pezeshkian was inaugurated. Over a hundred international delegations were in the capital to recognize the new Iranian president.
“Yesterday I raised his victorious hand and today I have to bury him on my shoulders,” said President Pezeshkian.
Hours earlier, Israel attempted to assassinated a Hamas military leader in Lebanon's capital, Beirut. With these dual attacks, in two separate national capitals, within hours of each other, Israel has declared its hand. It wants a regional war.
The only chance it has to survive a regional war is if the US fights on its side.
This dramatic escalation came a week after Israel’s Prime Minister had received rapturous applause in the US Congress. When asked about the US response to the Israeli attack on Tehran, US Secretary of Defense Austin responded that the US would defend Israel and that it was working hard to de-escalate. One method would be to immediately stop all military aid to Israel, saving the US lots of money and leaving Israel to be utterly destroyed if it chooses to continue to attack every norm of international peace.
The rogue Zionist colony is now running a genocide in the occupied Palestinian Territory of Gaza, permitting murder in the occupied Palestinian Territory of the West Bank and torturing prisoners in at least one detention facility in southern Israel. It recently attacked Iran's diplomatic mission in Damascus. There is almost no international crime left for Israel to commit.
Suggestions that Israel does not care about its genocide in Gaza because those crimes will disappear beneath the horror of a wider war in southwest Asia were made a few months ago. These two attacks in and on the capitals of Lebanon and Iran can only be taken as declarations of Israel’s intent to induce this wider war.
Any government whose intelligence assets were powerful enough to know exactly where the Hamas leader was staying during a temporary visit to the Iranian capital would have known where he lived in Qatar, where an assassination, while of course still illegal, would not have had the same consequences.
Responses
The emerging geopolitical blocks of BRICS+ and the SCO will certainly not want a regional war in southwest Asia and will no doubt be exerting all pressure to prevent one. Should the risk of an escalation of violence be diffused, other methods to punish Israel will need to be found and may actually serve the greater aims of many nations in the region.
The natural response is a total economic blockade of Israel. Pressure can be built towards this in regional organisations. Calls for economic sanctions via the UN Security Council would be a natural response, and equally can be expected to be vetoed by the US. Forcing the US to choose if it wishes to use its veto to again defend a nation not only committing genocide but also attacking the capitals of regional neighbours will place extreme pressure on the US.
The combination of international financial pressure on Israel arranged outside of the UN may be sufficient to prompt more Israelis to emmigrate. This in turn will further weaken the colonialist nation and please the native populations of the region. Should the US choose to further sabotage what remains of its international standing by vetoing UN sanctions against Israel it will surely join Israel as a pariah.
Should military responses be taken against Israel and the US come to its aid, the US ability to continue to play its self-appointed role of "world police" will be further stressed. US and NATO military production is already insufficient to continue to arm the war which they generated in Ukraine which Ukraine has already lost. Indeed, NATO stockpiles are dangerously low with future military industrial production likely already allocated.
The mighty US has not been able to prevent Ansar Allah in Yemen from attacking Israeli shipping in the Red Sea. While Israel's reputation of military power was shattered when Iran successfully retaliated for the Zionist nation's attack on its embassy in Damascus, the US military reputation is under increasing pressure and may itself break if it is drawn into a southwest Asian regional conflict.
Neither can the behind-the-scenes powers in the US politically afford for such a conflict. Newly appointed and yet to be confirmed Democratic nominee Harris has no international standing. Their current president, Biden, is medically mentally out to lunch. The likely winner of a populist election in November, Donald Trump, would probably by bolstered by any regional destabilization because he, more than either of the Democrats, actually speaks to the US citizenry.
The risks for the US are too great for its power brokers to allow this to get out of control. But, the US has yet to play the one, simple card which will reign the Zionists in: to threaten the removal of military support.
A tussle is looming in the heart of the empire.
PS: Quite by coincidence, one my favourite investigative journalists Nick Turse, just exposed the uncounted death toll of US war: the suicides.
PPS: An action which could spark a wider war in southwest Asia was known to the Australian government by around midday 2024-07-29 (AEST), because its department of foreign affairs issued a travel advice warning Australians not to travel to Lebanon, or to leave. This almost certainly came from 5EYES, the military intelligence network of the main English language nations (US, UK, Canada, Australia, NZ). The US had positioned non-combatants evecuation operation assets in the region too (reported Larry Johnson). The US knew that something of this calibre was going to happen at least two day ahead of time, and instead of warning the Zionists off, positioned evacuation ships in place. The rot runs deep.
Similarly, US representative to the UN, Robert Wood, was lying through both sides of his face to the UN Security Council during the emergency session convened to alert the council of the extreme dangers created by Israel’s terrorist act. (See the Lascaris interview with Francis, below).

When NSC, State Dept, and DOD are all run by stooges of the zionists, one cannot be surprised. Even when they commit this level of stupidity. As soon as Blinken cam out the statement that the US was not aware or involved, well he was already lying.
The world has to move quicker to cut ties with these neocolonialist mad men of the west. It's enough.
