On The Duran Mercouris provided an overview of the array of Eurasian and international organisations coordinating an integration against the US/EU/G7/NATO West.
They are the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation which originated just before the 9/11 crimes in 2001. It was immediately utilized to counter terrorism in the aftermath of those crimes in the US. China later used it as its key vehicle to implement its Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) mega-project. The SCO has moved beyond that, while still serving that role, as a Eurasia wide diplomatic organisation to facilitate exchange in furthering the multi-nodal world in cohort with BRICS.
Another old organisation is BRICS, now BRICS10, which is a non-western counter to the G7. It is an international diplomatic exchange organisation focused on international trade, and more latterly finance.
In the security field, the even older organisations are the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) which is formed of the independent states which were former members of the USSR. It has a corresponding mutual defense alliance organisation, the CSTO (Common Security Treaty Organisation). The CSTO is an Eurasian equivalent to NATO.
Moving back to matters economic, the EurAsian Economic Union is a Russian led organisation focused on trade and infrastructure in Asia. It thus, has a commonality with BRICS10 and the SCO.
In his introductory remarks speaking of the Eurasian multi-lateral organisations, and particularly the SCO, Mercouris fails to distinguish between the different tiers of membership, from Observer through Dialogue to Full. The key distinction between these levels is obviously time served and a display of respect and honest engagement. There is another, which requires legislation in the nation which wishes to become a full member. In this author's eyes, the key element of this is the establishment of a Secretariat as a component of a ministry in the nation wishing to become a full member. The purpose of the secretariat is to ensure timely responses to queries and other bureaucratic support, obviously. The less discussed element is the use of appropriate security (encryption) to ensure that communications within the organisation which are sensitive remain within the organisation and are not capable of being cracked the prying eyes of the NSA/GCHQ.
With this little note of organisations and the importance of secure communications out of the way, please excuse me for returning to "The Ukraine War is an Era Defining Event" from almost a year ago. Belarus has just been welcomed as a full member of the SCO, which advances the SCO into Europe. This is likely to become extremely important in the mid-term. For the moment, Belarus like Russia, is heavily focused on NATO's war with Russia in neighbouring Ukraine.
Moving south in Europe, Hungary's Orban, now holding the rotating presidency of the Council of Europe, has ignored warmongering cries of "you can't do that Dave" to travel to both Kiev and then Moscow to start a realistic effort to broker a peace to Europe's biggest problem. He and Fico in Slovakia have been warning against and not assisting in NATO's war with Russia. They have just been joined by Bulgaria's interim Prime Minister Glavchev in calling for peace talks involving all parties. These efforts follow those by China with its 12 point peace plan which was issued 1 year after the war began, 16 months ago. The recent photo-op in Switzerland supposedly about peace, to which Russia was not invited, issued a final communique which was not signed by many of the participants and amounted to 6 (half) of China's points from the year previous.
Further to the south, on Europe's periphery, Turkey has been a dialogue partner of the SCO for a decade. Erdogan attended the recent SCO summit in Astana, Kazakhstan and expressed his desire for Turkey to become a full member. Turkey is not a member of the BRICS10, though Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the UAE are. Syria is a dialogue partner of the SCO.
The recent announcement by Erdogan to re-establish ties with Syria is possibly a gate through which Turkey must pass before it will be granted Full SCO membership. That process, if successful, means dealing with "the Kurdish problem" and kicking the US out of Syria at least, and probably northern Iraq too. This would be of great benefit to the region, including Iraq and Iran.
All of this slow creaking of diplomacy is grinding away at the US/EU/NATO/G7 block. Pieces are sensibly falling off. Advocating for a losing war is a losing diplomatic strategy. The only nations which are still hanging in there are those which undermined peace talks from the very beginning because their weapons industries are, and will continue to profit from continued war. Yes, the usual grift and corruption which is associated with every war is also happening, and these were the motivations to provoke it, notwithstanding "weakening Russia". But, with the total failure of the economic sanctions and the West's military technology getting exposed for the expensive fireworks they are, reasons to continue to justify the killing of 50 000 Ukrainians a month are hard to find.
Returning to the SCO meeting in Astana, the parties are pushing on with reinforcing the existing or creating new mechanisms for further de-dollarization. The West is being frozen out diplomatically and economically, as it is losing a war in Europe. The US is desperately trying to create a war with China because China is the real problem. It is the economic heft behind all of the Eurasian integration. But, a war with China will not solve the problems which beset the US. Their biggest problem is that nobody trusts them anymore. All of the warring, sanctioning, complicity in a genocide and stealing other nation’s assets (theft/piracy) has left the US with no friends.
Think about the war with China which the US is trying to gin up. The West tried to isolate and undermine Russia with the engineered war in Ukraine. They utterly failed. Only Europe and the 5-EYES jumped on the sanctions wagon. Now, two years later, Russia has won, defeating the West's military material and its economic war.
How the hell do the US and its NATO vassals think they can take on China with Russia as an ally? While The Philippines may be run by a bunch of crooks, the Japanese and South Korean people are not stupid. They must see what happened to Ukraine. China is South Korea’s largest trading partner.
East Asia has a history of warring with China (and Japan, and Korea, and Vietnam, and Mongolia if you want to go back that far). Its complicated and they all know it. Today's China is not a good choice for a nation to pick a fight with, and they know this. They also know that Russia just destroyed most of the West's military inventory and is outproducing the West in armaments.
I'll say it again. The Ukraine war is an era defining moment. It is the corrupt, Nazi infested hill on which NATO and the G7 have gone to die. Their big pipe-dream about a war with China is just that.
Meanwhile, a world is emerging in which nations within organizational blocks may actually keep their commitments and deals can be made. The Cold War saw two pyramid structures pitted against one another, with a smaller group of non-aligned nations beside (and who often suffered as a proxy battleground). Today, the failing hegemon is trying to maintain a single pyramidal structure of dominance.
The counter to it is not another pyramid, but a network, a fabric, a multi-nodal structure. It is not an it either. It is a they; the SCO, CIS, CSTO, EAEU, BRICS and who knows what more to come. The West has no idea, other than war, about how to deal with this.
Lastly, please excuse me to return to that seven and a half minutes of listening to Prof. Measheimer. His conception of geopolitics and international power amounted to a zero sum game of one group having to dominate another, with each nation fighting for its existence. He could not conceive of a collaboration. This exposes the mindset, the Achillies heel of the West. This is not the path which this collaborative conglomerate of multinational organisations are following.
They will leave a "we want to fight you" bankrupt West riling on its own, screaming into a void of disinterested ears.

Brilliant - well said. The colonial "west" is terminally corrupt in a spiral of its elites exploiting their own people and their vessels. All they have in this is endless war - purely for profit. Just war, war, war.

Every once in a while you have the OECD pop up telling truth to power like this below pointing to what is actually needed to serve people, but that truth telling is ignored: https://www.oecd.org/en/publications/on-shaky-ground-income-instability-and-economic-insecurity-in-europe_9bffeba6-en.html
While in the rest of the world everyone is getting their act together and cooperating to improve well being for their own people.
It's a telling contrast.
