Excellent synthesis and interpretation of the state of affairs here!
Out of this civil war, between the neocon faction vs the Monroevian faction, of the US oligarchy, suspect it will only get more bloody metaphorically speaking.
Because in the Trump camp are also neocons like Musk and Bezos and Theil. So there will be fractures there.
And the European figureheads installed by the neocons are going to keep tumbling like dominoes. Metz is one and he won’t last long unless he changes camp. But it’s worth looking at the last of upcoming elections over the next 12 months neocon-aligned European governments will fall, replaced by Trump-friendly ones.
The worst part is the Scandinavians have all lost their minds, and especially among their elite classes they are actually ramping up the war talk instead of embrace peace. It’s like none of them have looked at Ukraine and asked themselves as frontline states in a neocon induced conflict. WTF would they want to end up like THAT.
By now it should be clear to all that we're dealing with a party which time and again has proved itself to be incapable (unwilling would be the more correct qualification, having "might makes right" mixed with perfidious ancestral genes that make up its "shining beacon on a hill" hubristic mentality) of honoring its own concluded agreements and treaties.
Nonetheless, have a listen to Barnes. Trump was schooled by his uncle (if memory serves) on the terror of nuclear war. I believe this is a commonality between Trump and JFK -- they understand that accidents, and manufactured ones at that, can lead to oblivion.
Excuse me, sir, are we talking about the same Trump who single-handedly withdrew the USA from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty which his country signed with Russia (in the capacity of legal successor of the USSR) in 1988? The same Trump who also single-handedly withdrew from the Joint Comprehensive Plan Of Action with Iran?
See where I'm coming from...? Perhaps you should try to stop confusing the Muricans' attempt to "exfiltrate" themselves from their self-inflicted nightmare in Banderastan with a single Trump apologist's narrative of a messianic figure who "abhores the terrors of nuclear war".
If Barnes is right, then please explain to me how come just the other day Trump signed an order to fast-track the sale of $3 billion worth of military equipment to Israhell, including 24 000-pound bunker-buster MOABs and armored bulldozers? How is this, alongside Trump's aggressive tariffs, generally defined as instruments of economic warfare, reducing the risk of nuclear war?
I agree with all of the contradictions you have listed.
I offer but one caveat, 2024 is not 2016. Trump admin 2 is not Trump admin 1.
Events will inform us where things go. For now, I see a rapproachment with Russia which I expect Russia to demand to include a new security architecture which I hope will reduce nuclear tensions on top of ending the Ukraine war. Perhaps I have become rosey eyed.
I intend to write and article on the Trump and Israhell. Its still fuzzing around my mind taking shape.
The wolf changes its fur, but not its nature. It's true that MAGA 2024 isn't the same as MAGA 2016, though OrangeMan's handlers are the same...
I sincerely hope that you're right on this one, I for one would be very happy to be wrong! :) As you say, in time the direction will become more tangible.

It sounds encouraging, though I'm not bying it!

Your skepticism is warranted by history.
