In Canada when our troops were accused of capturing suspected Afghan "terrorist insurgents" and handing them over to be interrogated, tortured, killed, locked in shipping containers to cook etc, the subsequent enquiry was stopped by Prime Minister Harper "proroguing" Parliament and sending everything down the "memory hole".
There's a little more to this case. The question I've been asking myself is why, given that this is such a politically risky thing to do have all of Australia's leading politicians signed up for it? I've put together a reasonable case and hope you'll all find it of interest.
There is no greater gift to a curious researcher than references to related articles, and this one is brilliant. Originally published at WSW who from what I could tell did a pretty good job. The one weakness of the article is that all of its links are internal to WSW and there is no 'sources' section (citations etc.). But, that's no problem. I've got the core details and can search for the corroboration.
So, the plot thickens with the Canadian parliament also hushing things up on the "war crimes in Afghanistan" issue.
Thank you, Pietro!
PS: We've given up on Canada winning the most suckiest of the 5 eyes alliance award, but now you've started a new competition of which nation did the dumbest political thing to hush up war crimes in Afghanistan? Aus in the lead at the mo'. But, one should never discount the makers of maple syrup!

An important story. Thanks very much for picking it up and relaying it so well.
Classic "Shoot the messenger" tactic.

Indeed, Mr Wilson.

Looking forward to learning more from my Commonwealth brother and getting a different perspective from
another of the 5 Eyes Crime Syndicate..
I endorse
Aaron Mate, Dimitri Lascaris , Yves Engler and Jeremy Appel
as fine independent journalists on Canadian Foreign Policy matters.
Yessiree, fellow Commonwealthian. Firstly, let me apologise something which must be so common that it no longer annoys the crap out of you.
Mr Wislon not something Wilson. Please excuse my error.
We are in agreement as to MatΓ©, Lascaris and Engler. Appel is new to me. Yippee! I shall investigate.
I place MatΓ© in the top group of young English language investigative journalists. His dogged efforts on the 2018 Douma affair were outstanding.
Agreed on Arron Mate.
Here's an article I found about Canadian and Australian Special Forces in Afghanistan.
