On Friday 13th September, 2024, in the White House, British Prime Minister Sir Kier Starmer met with US President Joe Biden to discuss the next escalation in their war with Russia in Ukraine. That escalation, requested by expired Ukrainian President Zelensky, was for permission to use US targeting data required to fire various NATO missiles with ranges sufficient to reach the Russian capital Moscow.
In the room with Starmer, an angry Joe Biden dismissed a reporter's question. Starmer was not able to enjoy showing his target maps to the aging US president. There would be no discussion of the target options in Russia which were the subject of the meeting. Before it, the US administration had announced that there would be no press conference afterwards. The product of the meeting between the leaders of the two "special relationship" nations would not be communicated. It was hijacked.
The reason for this is now understood. Russia's leadership, probably via some backchannel, had informed someone who then informed US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin that a collection of Russian hypersonic missiles armed with conventional weapons, of the power of the nuclear warhead dropped on Hiroshima by the US in 1945, had been programmed with their targets in Europe and the US. They were ready.
They would be fired if the US approved the use of its targeting data to attack Russia and those missiles were fired at Russia. Any of those launches would create a state of war between Russia and the US and whichever other nations were suicidal enough to allow the desperate and defeated Ukrainians to fire those NATO weapons at Russia.

From this we have learned what a perilous vice the world is in. The US and its major NATO member state allies' political leadership is so beholden to their arms industries, Cold War ideologues and ethno-supremacist oligarchs that they will enact policies to maim, kill and destroy, escalating and escalating until there is only one stop to the madness of violence. That stop is the military itself, fearing its own destruction.
The civilian leadership of the US military has become more reckless than their military. No. US political leadership relies on their military to tell them when to stop. We are beyond the pinnacle of the danger which Eisenhower warned of 63 years ago. The last vestige of sanity in the US resides in its military.
It took Russia threatening the US with kilotons of explosives at hypersonic speed against which NATO has no defense, to prompt the US military to force the US political leadership to stop, before every grandmother and child, every husband and daughter, died.

A glimmer of hope. Western politicians have become both unaccountable and mad puffed by their own importance.
This should be headline news in all of these countries. But still it's not.
The cray thing is we have a global climate crisis. We have a crisis of natural ecosystems nearing collapse. We have a a poverty and hunger crisis. And yet these countries dedicate little or nothing to solving these. But waging needless wars and putting the human race at risk of extinction, well THAT they have time and lots of money to throw at.
