Update 2023-02-11: Added source of Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman on their response to Hersh’s article.
Update 2023-02-12: Two commentaries on the Hersh article are added to sources, one from Craig Murray, the other from Pepe Escobar.
Note: a more detailed article on the implications of Hersh’s report has been published, with extensive sourcing. Indeed, the implications run even deeper than that.
Seymour Hersh is one of the most celebrated USA investigative reporters. He became famous for his report on the My Lai massacre during the American War (as the Vietnamese refer to it). More recently his report “The Red Line and the Rat Line” in the London Review of Books exposed the covert supply of weapons from the NATO generated conflict in Libya through Turkiye to Syria to arm the USA trained and paid insurgents. Hersh has a Pulitzer prize and 5, yes 5, Polk Awards. His credibility and acknowledgement are unparalleled in USA investigative journalism.
Not too long after Hersh published his Red/Rat-line article he published his memoir simply titled "Reporter". One had the feeling that he's hung up his typewriter. However, he still possesses a network of knowledgeable inside sources. He sought the background to the attacks on the NordStream pipelines. His article is the result of 3 months of digging. As with other publications authored by Hersh one can be certain that he has found corroboration for claims made by his sources. This stands in stark contrast to the Associated Press report about the Ukrainian missile defense missiles which landed in Poland killing two farmers. That one line article asserted one anonymous official’s claim that they were Russian missiles. It contravened their supposed standards for reporting on claims by unnamed government representatives.
That the USA was behind the operation was obvious to all who looked at it. The article provides much more. Germany was consulted and agreed. Norway was a key ally in the operation solving some of the technical challenges. Key persons inside the Danish and Swedish administrations and/or military were also required to cover the operation.
It is, as ever, a pleasure to read his report.
Enjoy.

The location for the sabotage was off the coast of the Danish island of Bornholm. Bornholm is a beautiful and almost sleepy island in the middle of the Baltic and well worth a visit. There are cold smoked salmon businesses, particularly on the west coast. The fishing villages on the north coast are picturesque. The long beach of white sand on the south coast is one of Denmark's most beautiful.
