Update 2023-06-20: The Assange case
I stated that I'd not followed up on recent Assange developments, when in fact I had. The point being made is that the rejection by the UK High Court of both appeals by Assange's legal team means that Julian's extradition to the US could occur extremely quickly, and this as noted by Magistrate Baraitser puts his life in jeopardy.
An excellent article by Chris Hedges provides the recent details and the list of honorable reasons why Assange is guilty of journalism of the highest order. Hedges makes the key point that any appeal which Assange’s legal team may make to the European Courty of Human Rights is at risk because he may well be deported before such a case can be lodged and secondly that the UK may not abide by any judgement issued.
I maintain my position that the powers behind the US and UK abuse wish for Assange to be caught in legal limbo and that it is preferrable for the US powers that he reside in a UK jail rather than a US one, especially considering the upcoming US Presidential election. So, I acknowledge the argument and risk, and the ongoing persecution but expect that both beligerents would happily accept that a case is submitted.
The clock is, however, running out for all of them, including Julian.
