They didn't comment on the other BRICS member, South Africa. On or around the 9th May South Africa was accused of supplying arms to Russia. No evidence was provided but the Rand has come under heavy pressure and broken down through three strong support levels.

If I was the US (West), I would attack the weakest of the BRICS country first and that would be South Africa.

Clarification of the above (for people who are a little slow in the morning, like me): the Rand is the South African currency, as opposed to RAND the US corporation that supplies geopolitical and military advice the US government.

Nice point Humphry. I recall the baseless accusation, though have not been following the currency exchange rate. The latest weakening of the Rand from 18.25 to 19.5 (to the USD) occurs from three weeks ago in mid-May (6.5% in three weeks!). However, I'd need more information as to the cause. The Rand crashed at the point of the pandemic, then recovered strongly during 2021 into early 2022.

The recent weakening is the latest in a sequence running back to that early 2022 mark. South Africa joined BRIC (to make BRICS) in 2011. I'd like some more background on the continued weakening of the Rand for the last 15 months before drawing conclusions.

Nonetheless, your point stands. The US has certainly been attacking Brazil (all of the dirty dealing to remove Roussef, and then the whole "carwash" operation to put Lula in jail to allow Bolsinaro to win), who may also be viewed on the weaker tier of BRICS. When you think about it, the US has been attacking them all for years.
