"....This divergence, away from focusing on ending the war and into profiting from it, risks Ukraine becoming his Vietnam. It also placed the US overtly in the battle for the carve up of Ukrainian assets...."

What? No.

Has everyone been asleep? Ukraine has been carved up long ago:

And please, dont join the mad rush to swallow this diversion about an "argument" between Zelenksky, Trump and Vance. That was a staged piece of horribly bad acting. Zeleneky is an actual actor, not a politician. Trump has been doing staged "reality TV" for decades now. And JD Vance is a no actor at all - and it showed. That was completely staged. Ukraine is anyway already carved up by the hyeanas. Wake up.

I entirely support your point about Ukraine being already carved up (e.g foreign "investors" buying Ukrainian land). But they're not done yet, either.

That Trump is well aware of his media presence, and tailors his behaviour accordingly is also given. That the minerals deal may have been a ploy, is plausible. That the Oval Office meeting was a trap is also plausible.

That the argument was a totally staged event requires more evidence. Are you arguing that Lindsey Graham was in on the trap, and advised Zelensky to repeatedly contradict Trump in the White House and continuously push for more than was on offer? Perhaps.

I suggest it is more plausible that Zelensky is scared shitless of the neo-Nazis and the oligarchs who've been profiting from the war and knows that the money flow from the Europeans cannot last unless they have that "backstop" agreement from the US. He failed to achieve that and pissed Trump and Vance off in the process.

My summary: always assume incompetence before conspiracy, until sufficient evidence changes the statistical likelihood. Conspiracies are common. Incompetence is even more common.

In the realm of national government level action….conspiracy and deception are the default. Not the exception.

Incompetence there comes in addition to conspiracy , not instead.

Zelensky is an illusion. A mirage. A TV actor. A PR shop dummy. Not an actual national leader. He wears army fatigues to formal events as if he is fighting there rather than filling his Cayman Islands account. Everything he does is scripted TV.

If he is arguing with the US president in front of cameras, it’s acting.

Yes, Trump is vulgar. But the US global shakedown is the same one as ever; Johnathan Cook; Jonathan Cook; 2025-03-04

Its worse than people realise.

Yes, the neocons started a proxy war in Ukraine and Trump is now shaking down Europe to spend more money on US weapons.

BUT that's not all. The Wall St people are salivating because their calclus is that not only will Europe have to buy more weapons from Boeing, Raytheon etc.....but that European governments cannot afford it.......and will ALSO need to sell of their government assets and public infrastructure eg railroads, waterworks, etc.to Wall St.

So Americans want to make money twice on all that human misery.

Sickening.
