European visits to the White House against threats of peace

Introduction

Week 9, 2025, saw three European leaders hosted by the Trump administration at the White House following the US-European cataclysm of Week 7, wherein Hegseth declared that not only is the US out of Project Ukraine, but that no NATO article 5 backing will be provided to allies which continue the war, and Vice President Vance mocked European claims of Democracy at the Munich Security Summit (MSC).

The US torpedoed military support and one of the narratives for the Project's war.

Democracy in Europe

Vance's criticism continues to ring true. Before the MSC event, Romanian Presidential vote winner Georgescu was denied his victory by a ruling from Romania's constitutional court which canceled the election based on allegations of social media election campaign advertising influencing the election. Canceling elections while the world awaits the effective banning of unofficial political campaigning on social media is the road to totalitarianism. Denied, victorious Georgescu was then arrested as he went to register for the rescheduled election.

[How do all of the UK special operations people running the naval drones get to Odessa? In which nation is the NATO airbase at which Ukraine’s fighter pilots deliberately failed their tests to be trained to fly F-16s?]

In Bosnia-Herzegovina, the president of the Serbian side of the split republic was sentenced to one year in prison for ignoring the diktats of an unelected, foreign bureaucrat appointed to a position for securing the peace in transition of the war which ended 30 years ago (see Szamuely video in Sources). Perhaps the court thinks that while behind bars his supporters are less likely to continue to ignore the colonial ruler's rules.

But, enough of democracy in European courts.

Bad News comes in Threes

Monday's Oval Office visit by French President Macron was the most subtle and potentially most successful. Behind the press conference, deduced John Helmer, was a proposal by France to shrink NATO to maintain it. Macron was addressing the European security architecture redefinition which the Russia Federation demand as a component of the settlement of the NATO-Russia Ukraine war, and seems inevitable given Hegseth's statements at the Ukraine Defense Contact Group at NATO HQ. The US is focusing on the Pacific and by "division of labour", NATO's European members are to be responsible for Europe's security. All will be well if they bankrupt themselves purchasing weapons, especially from the US Military Industrial Complex (US-MIC).

Thursday's visit by British PM Sir Starmer exposed the dirty laundry of the NATO member states which have been funding, arming and fighting the war with special forces. Britain is maneuvering to claim the spoils of a destitute and defeated Ukraine, soon to run out of both soldiers and equipment. A division of utilities and assets is under way, with Britain claiming ports and German likely to end up with some mining interests. Gas storage and distribution, the electricity network and who knows what else are being appropriated via the corrupt government in Kiev. Sources for this analysis include a leak by Ukrainian intelligence, Pepe Escobar echoing Russian analysis and John Helmer's analysis.

“Raw Earths”

Due to the trade war over rare earth metals supply for the US-MIC is vulnerable. Trump, likely responding to this, began a "deal" with Ukraine for some of these “raw earths” and potentially other minerals. This divergence, away from focusing on ending the war and into profiting from it, risks Ukraine becoming his Vietnam. It also placed the US overtly in the battle for the carve up of Ukrainian assets, a strategically inept choice for a president seeking a peace.

With this battle for Ukrainian assets and a declaration of the US withdrawal from Project Ukraine, expired President Zelensky arrived at the White House on Friday. That he had been briefed by MI-6 seemed likely when he uttered "back stop" while requesting continued US military support for Ukraine's asset parceling European backers.

By 17 minutes into (see Sources) what became an embarrassing fracas, Zelensky had twice contradicted and once interrupted US President Trump. He had also shaken his head and rolled his eyes while Trump was speaking. Joe Lauria’s report captured the dynamic of the meeting with all of the key quotes in context.

The person with no cards to play, and in a tenuous political position set himself up for the barrage that followed. The utility of the diplomatic food fight came afterwards when European leaders cast their lots.

EU Commissioner van der Crazy sprayed a cringeworthy declaration of support on Elon Musk's X/Twitter for the corrupt, expired Ukrainian leader who has denied all opportunity to end the war and destroyed his country with a million dead and ten million emmigrated:

Your dignity honors the bravery of the Ukrainian people.

Be strong, be brave, be fearless. You are never alone, dear President Zelenskyy.

We will continue working with you for a just and lasting peace.

Its sentiment was supported France, Germany, Poland, Spain, Denmark, the Netherlands, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Norway, Finland, Croatia, Estonia, Latvia, Slovenia, Belgium, Lithuania, Luxembourg and Ireland (and Canada, Australia and New Zealand) making their position clear. The feckless Europeans want to prolong the longest war in Europe since WWII. Who knows, they might even get a nuclear holocaust to go with the human one they're supporting in Gaza?

Their intention, of course, is to keep the Kiev regime in power for as long as possible while its assets have ribbons tied around them and a new political narrative can be developed. Their problem is that the US is done with the charade:

Trump knows by now that the western narrative of Biden’s war is a load of bullshit peppered with falsehoods and outright lies, and that the war erupted only out of the diabolic western plot to poke the bear, which got provoked finally and hit out.

Zelenskyy admitted recently that much of the money given by Biden simply ‘disappeared’. Sordid tales of massive kickbacks and corruption are galore. Biden ignored them. The Biden family’s involvement in Ukraine’s cesspools is widely known. Contrary to his pledge earlier not to do so, Biden felt constrained finally to grant a presidential pardon to son Hunter Biden so that he [both of them] wouldn’t end up in jail.

Trump made his position clear for the European nations invested in the war:

if you want to continue the war, you’ll do it on your own.

“The Trump administration is considering ending all ongoing shipments of military aid to Ukraine”, concluded The Washington Post.

War at all costs

Total contact between European leaders and Moscow since Russia internationalized the Ukraine civil war with its Special Military Operation remains at zero. There is no better definition of European leadership's desire to maintain the conflict than their absolute lack of discussion to end it. However, their desire to place uniformed soldiers in Ukraine to maintain possession of the assets which they are attempting to acquire is "suicidal, to put it mildly. Ukraine’s military will collapse if Trump freezes support." [MKB again]

Meanwhile, Russia continues to clearly express its minimal position for ending the conflict. 100,000 Russian soldiers will not have died to allow NATO's European militaries to inhabit what remains of Ukraine and control whichever government succeeds the current junta.

The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation still have work to do to capture the citadels of northwestern Donetsk. In parallel, they are threatening the Dnipropetrovsk oblast, west of Pokrovsk, and advancing northwards in eastern Zaporozhye, not to mention pushing westward into Kharkov, and inexorably closing the noose around the suicidal Ukrainian invaders in Kursk. Some of the assets which the more powerful European states are trying to secure may disappear behind the front lines of an advancing Russia before they can organize a legitimate Kiev government to sign them away.

By siding with Zelensky to prolong the war, the warmongering Europeans are placing themselves politically where they sit geographically, between the US and Russia, an exquisitely uncomfortable position. [Hence, the article graphic.]

To their east is their largest neighbour and market, a resource rich economy which they have denied themselves by a 16th round of economic sanctions. To their west is a US regime about to impose 25% tarriffs on their exports. They have economically snookered themselves while their largest economy is deinsutrializing. On top of the millions of refugees they have accepted from the US terror wars in former Ottoman empire territories, 5 million Ukrainians have joined the mixed diaspora while Ukraine has become a massive arms black market.

The combined recipe is one for prolonged economic and social disruption.

Tick, tick, tick

M. K. Bhadrakumar offered an insight into Trump's motivations, his path to fame, along which the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine will be a sign post:

Trump has chalked up 2026, the Quarter Millennial of the United States Declaration of Independence, for hosting the leaders of Russia and China on American soil to celebrate the high noon of his quest for world peace. The European political elites weaned on the liberal-globalist ‘rules-based order’ cannot understand Trump’s deep-rooted convictions and his abhorrence of war.

Update

Zelensky flew from Washington D.C. to London where he was received by British PM Sir Starmer, granted a loan for 2.6 billion UK pounds and attended a meeting with King Charles III. Starmer has organised a war council for Europe on Thursday 6th March, at which it is likely that France will issue an equivalent loan and the EU will attempt to dole out well over 100 billion Euro. Hungary's Orban has declared he will oppose this. Slovakia's Fico has also declared that it will neither support arms nor loans to Ukraine.

The security for said loans will likely be stated to be based on the Russian central bank's foreign reserves assets, impounded in EuroClear in Brussels. In reality, the loans will never be repaid, but profits from Ukrainian assets being secured in deals like the UK's "100 year" partnership will be handed over to British and other European businesses over years to come.

This is a classic example of the war economy in which the bills end up as public debt while the lesser profits end up in the hands of business leaders. The narrative of saving a corrupt Democracy in Ukraine defending itself against a rampant Russia, which has taken three years to capture a few Ukrainian oblasts after being provoked by an impending ethnic cleansing in Donbas, was the usual emotionally manipulative lie.
